So I put together a little About page, to sort of explain why we’re doing this, what it’s for, what it means, but I feel like it’s relevant to share it here, as well.
Sammi is our freshly turned 10 year old rescued GSD. She was officially diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma on August 25th, 2017, which we had anticipated after her emergency splenectomy that she had August 17th, 2017. We were afraid of the bad news and wanted to start her keto – a high fat, moderate protein, very low carb diet – as not to waste any time in potentially helping to prolong and improve her life and health.
Why Keto? First, my experience and knowledge of keto goes back quite a bit, but I didn’t get serious with it until January 2017 for my own health. I plan on diving into all of this information over time, so that Sammi’s blog can be a resource for others who might potentially be going through the same thing with their German Shepherd or other breed of dog.
I will be sharing our thoughts, our experiences, our day to day happenings, her moods and activity levels, everything that we feel is relevant to this chapter of her life as we do our best to keep her happy and healthy for as long as possible. You will also read about and meet Tex, her almost 16 year old {also rescued} Siberian Husky brother, who has been a part of her life since we brought her home 9 years ago.
One thing to keep in mind throughout all this is, this is our journey, our choice, our experience, our life, to pursue and live. We welcome friendly comments, questions, and discussion. Thanks for being here!

Sammi loves to be in the pool, no matter what size it is!
