It’s been a lazy weekend, for the most part. I fed the dogs some leftover steak Friday night, that I think ended up upsetting Sammi’s tummy, because Saturday morning she was pretty mopey and tired. We figured it wasn’t the ribeye so much, but possibly the seasoning that Dave had used. Usually I rinse off table scraps but I didn’t think about it when I was cutting up their bites. Fortunately, by the early afternoon she had perked up, and by the evening, she was back to herself.
Per KetoPet’s methodology of Metabolic Conditioning {MetCons} as part of the healing process for their animals, we’ve been trying to ease exercise back into Sammi’s routine, now that her staples are out. They actually recommend 25-35 minutes of exercise; anything that results in an elevated heart rate, twice a day! We’ve been going on evening walks around the neighborhood, and letting her play with her flying squirrel and push her ball around the yard. She comes in and plops down, tired but so happy and alert.
Going on car rides and taking them to the office is no different. She is as eager as ever to get out the door. You can’t put her leash on her fast enough! She’ll bark the whole way to where their leashes hang in the house, and all the way through the garage, and into the car. She won’t stop til she knows for sure that she’s coming along for the ride. We’re seeing her in a whole new light now. I have to remember to love on both of them as much as possible. Life is short. Tex, our 15 (almost 16) year old husky has been with us for so long, I can’t imagine him not around. Talk about taking our little people for granted. Give your pets an extra hug today. 🙂
